A supremely talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Andy Burrows first came to attention with Razorlight, joining as drummer in 2004 and going on to co-write some of that band’s biggest hits, including the #1 single, America.  Leaving Razorlight in 2009, Burrows joined We Are Scientists as a part-time member, before releasing the album Sun Comes Up Again, under the moniker I Am Arrows, in 2010.  Sun Comes Up Again garnered righteous critical acclaim and massive radio airplay for its Green Grass single, and saw Burrows and his band tour extensively, with headline shows and festival dates, as well as stadium shows as guests of Muse.

What followed saw Burrows embark on a prolific purple patch. First he joined up with long-time friend and Editors frontman Tom Smith as Smith & Burrows for 2011’s Funny Looking Angels, an album of wintery vignettes and Christmas melancholy.  Then, he agreed to decamp to New York to become a full-time Scientist. Amidst all this, Burrows has been hard at work on his own material, using a more straight-ahead approach than on his debut, all of it injected with Burrows‘ way with an earworming hook.

Burrows has built an album steeped in rock classicism and raw, melancholic melodies, and it is effortlessly intoxicating, as his first album ‘Company’ released last October showed.  It’s the sound of an artist who’s thrown the shackles off and emerged as an bewilderingly creative tour-de-force.

Since its birth nearly 30 years ago, [PIAS] has been creatively involved in the (r)evolution of a multitude of artists, record labels and music genres as they transition from niche to crossover. We strive to work with the most inventive and original artists possible and, without compromise, take their music to the widest possible audience. The primary interest of the people that work at [PIAS] has and will always been their passion for music and, whilst we’re a commercial company, we’re 100% independent and one of the leaders of what remains a great tradition of non-corporate label culture.

[PIAS] Nites is the natural extension of our culture. These Nites are built as high quality events – quality music performed in quality spaces resulting in quality memories. Of course these events promote the work of our artists and labels, but they’re primarily intended to be unique experiences in discovery, excitement and eclecticism. More than just a concert or mini festival, [PIAS] Nites are specifically designed to challenge all our senses and leave the music and party lover with a unique experience to remember.

A non exhaustive list of artists that [PIAS] has either discovered or worked with through the years includes: Editors; Pixies, Young Gods, Royksopp, Propellerheads, Vitalic, Tiga, Laurent Garnier, Agnes Obel, Bloody Beetroots, Prodigy, Underworld, Ghinzu, Deus, Soulwax, TwoManyDJ’s, Human League, Grace Jones, Reverend & The Makers, Nick Cave, Dépêche Mode, Moby, Muse, Arcade Fire, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys , Oasis, Front 242, An Pierlé, Arsenal, Agoria, Crystal Fighters, Matt and Kim, Jim Jones Revue, Aeroplane, Meat Beat manifesto, MSTRKRFT, Soap and Skin... the list goes on...
